TIES

There is a strong connection between parents and their child. A young woman leaves the parental home to explore the world. However, the world of her parents remains so closely linked to her that her departure puts it at risk. The film shows how this connection can also be destructive.

Ties is also a coming-of-age story, following the girl as she learns to navigate independence.

For the children’s film, Dina Velikovskaya developed a completely new animation technique. Individual frames of the animated scenes were traced with a 3D pen, positioned in space, and photographed frame by frame. Stop-motion wire objects were also integrated to complete the scenes.

The film, created at Studio Torp, has received multiple awards at international film festivals. (see Festivallist below)
